History
Tuckaway Engineering was founded in 1998 by Jim and Kate Tucker in Bridgewater, South Australia. Jim, who had previously grown grapes in South Australia's Riverland and worked as an industrial engineer, saw a market for a versatile fencing staple which provided the ability to remove the wire from the post, with the strength and efficiency of a single steel component. He designed the Tuckaway Staple, and it met
with immediate enthusiasm from Australia's grape growers, who predominantly use it to support vineyard foliage wires.
Demand for the Tuckaway Staple continued to grow in Australia's booming viticulture industry, and the product became well-established. Before long, Tuckaway added to its domestic sales in Australia with exports to New Zealand, the USA and Europe.
In 2005, Tuckaway passed the baton to the next generation, as Jim and Kate "retired" and handed the reigns to their daughter and her husband, Alison and Tristan Badger, who themselves have been involved with the business since its inception.
